Naturally
Born Twins by Melissa Morrill
I recently had a very dedicated student of my Bradley classes who was pregnant with twins. This was her 2nd pregnancy and the first one was born unmedicated. Sharon is a great lady and very passionate about natural childbirth. It was a pleasure to have her in class since she brought some personal experience to share with the other new moms. She also had extreme dedication, as she was the first woman I have met that was having twins and willing to take a stand on a "high-risk" pregnancy.
She had been meeting with her medical team for months to make sure that would have the possibility of delivering these twins without medication. Although she had a tough time with a few of the doctors, she pushed on and took her ground. Below is the email I received from her regarding her birth. I am in awe and am totally inspired by this story. Not just because she delivered twins naturally, but because she took a stand to so many professionals and trusted her body enough to know what it was capable of. It is such a tough job to do when you are pregnant with one baby and low risk, but pregnant with twins and high-risk...sometimes that seems impossible!

Caroline had to stay in ICU for a week because she wasn't sucking so they had to tube her to feed her. She is doing great now. And you will be happy to know that your student was awesome! Water broke at 1:30 am and the girls came 17 min apart starting at 7:55 am. I went right in and was only 3 cm and no contractions. I have to say when they came they were very strong. As long as nobody talked I was good. I did have a nurse who was more interested in Darren as a TV anchor than me. I took her head off at one point when she kept adjusting the belts during a contraction. She also did a vaginal exam when I was pushing and boy did she regret that one! Anyway, no epidural, not even the clamp. I did ask to do the IV because I was sick with a bad cold and was so dehydrated that the ice chips and water were not cutting it. Turns out the IV was put in wrong and my arm looked like Popeye by the end! There were 13 Dr's and Nurses in the room, a VERY cold operating room. But I just focused and did a wonderful job. Caroline slipped head first after Gracie moved out. I pushed no more than 5 times with each. We did break Caroline's water, within a minute I pushed.
